TVD Nostalgia (season1). Delena in one frame.
Elena: “You were suffering, and I’m so sorry that I was happy all summer and got everything I wanted and didn’t notice.”
Stefan: “Let me make you feel more guilty about that than you already do.”
Even the writers don’t know or care what they’re doing with Stefan anymore. He’s the ripper! No, wait, he’s under control. Except when he’s not. He’s underwater! Now he’s not. He’s got amnesia! Now he doesn’t! He’s traumatized! Now he’s not. And through it all, he’s basically a raging dick to everyone who doesn’t do what he wants. No self-reflection. No growth. No insight or effort to honestly change. He’s just stuck on a self-involved cycle of alternating between being miserable or making everyone around him miserable, or, as is often the case, both at the same time. No matter what they do to him or have him do to others, he ends up in the same place and it never matters.
Stefan just offers nothing to the show. He’s not the good guy (that’s Matt and theoretically Caroline); he’s not the bad guy (that’s been Damon, Kat, Klaus, and Silas); he’s not the anti-hero (Damon), the moral center (Elena) or useful because of some unique power (Bonnie and Jeremy); he’s not the funny or charismatic or charming scene-stealer (that’s Damon. And Kat, sometimes). His best storyline was being stuck in a box. Outside of that, it’s just one gimmick after another. If Stefan wasn’t supposed to be the male lead, they’d have written him off a la Tyler. He’s only around to be the foil to DE and hopefully die in the end to be the hero he keeps on telling us he is.
Is Stefan really going to continue to guilt Delena into every possible thing?
I swear, if Stelena does get back together, it’s going to be because Stefan made Elena feel guilty. Don’t do it, Elena.
